tAG Voulunteers ; They Won't Stop Until It Ends.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

The story of empowering Nigeria’s vulnerable population is not one for the faint-hearted. In a country where more than forty percent of the population is living in extreme poverty, such a proposition would an unwavering dedication and commitment to the cause.

At  tAG foundation, our volunteers have been working assiduously to change the fortunes of people living within the poverty belt. The foundation’s journey has been consistently driven by the gutsy approach of its volunteers. At the heights of the COVID-19 imposed lockdown in the country, tAG volunteers committed themselves to feed over 5000 people living within the Ojokoro community. The selflessness did not stop at that, they actively participated in the organization of 2 stakeholders interaction in the Ifako- Ijaiye local government area of Lagos.

According to Ozioma Oyi-Obute, who has been volunteering for the foundation since inception, She was motivated by her desire to see a more prosperous society, one where everybody has equal access to social and economic opportunities.

Currently, the volunteers are processing and verifying the forms of over 2000 households as part of the “Adopt A Family” campaign. The process which started on the 28th of September has seen them carefully verifying the claims and spending lots of time making phone calls to would-be beneficiaries.

One of the volunteers Mrs Ngozi Koko disclosed that the call exercise has been interesting knowing that a lot of people barely have homes nor food to eat the next day. “A lot of the nominated households called were excited that we at tAG foundation share in their pain and willing to help them come out of poverty.”

However, over 5000 forms were submitted in Ifako-Ijaiye and Ojokoro LCDA and over 3500 nominated households have been screened via phone interviews with 212 households scheduled for door-to-door visitation.

We salute the tenacity, commitment and passion of our volunteers. They have proven that volunteerism requires more than finances, it is a wholesome service to humanity.

At the tAG Foundation, we remain committed to raising over 1 million households out of poverty in the next few months. That is why we would like you to visit www.tagnigeria.org and Adopt a Family.
